Eta Delta Chapter
Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Incorporated
In 1982, on the campus of Howard University, 19 women from the marching and concert bands
came together to express interest in bringing Tau Beta Sigma to The Mecca. These women worked
hard for 2 years under the graces of our big sister chapter, Beta Eta - University of Maryland,
and on February 19, 1984, the 172nd chapter of Tau Beta Sigma was installed and a legacy began.
Twenty years later, the Elegant Divas of Eta Delta Chapter hold true to the ideals of Tau Beta Sigma.
Serving all of the University Bands and ensembles throughout the year, the work never stops.
Programs such as the Sisters of Showtime (SOS) Mentor Program, Leadership Breakfast, working
with local high schools, Sisters Day at the Game, ushering for events and concerts, and making those
TBS specials to feed the band are just some of the many things that keep our light shining.
Our sisterhood is strong. Comprised of women from around the globe, Eta Delta boast scholars in
various majors. With lawyers, doctors, scientist, teachers, and more, we are just beginning a long road of
Talent, Beauty, and Scholarship. The future is bright and we will proudly continue to serve the bands
and promote women in the band profession. We are Eta Delta!
